The Focal View Open Galleries...... everyone is a photographer

We have decided to move away from the competition and focus purely upon the enjoyment of photography, sharing images with other photographers around the world.

We invite you to share your expertise, comments and ideas anonymously through the website. Constructive feedback is valuable and the Open Galleries provide the perfect platform for photographers of all skills to exhibit their work. You might be new to photography want others to help you develop or you may be have long and valuable experience and want to show your images to inspire others.

Go to http://www.focalview.co.uk/ogallery/ for information and look through the galleries. You will see that we are offering individual portfolio space too.

Collaboration
Each gallery has a writing box. Use any photograph, or send on your own, that inspires you to write a poem or short story. We are making eBook anthologies to sell and raise funds for the School In a Bag charity.
Thank you

Focal View and School In A Bag
 Photography and Poetry/Short Stories EBoooks

Focal View had teamed up with a very worthwhile charity which raises funds to supply school bags with learning equipment to children in remote and poor regions around the world, often suffering from natural disaster such as flooding and earthquake.
We are asking for your help.
We are asking for your creativity and imagination to create photo and poetry collections in eBook format.
We will sell the collections and the monies raised will be passed on to the charity.

So what do you need to do?
Take a few moments to look at this link:  http://focalist.net/siab.html
You can either use any of the images in the gallery as an inspiration or a photograph from your own collection.
If you use a gallery image, remember to include the number in the box.
If you want to use your own image then send this to us at editor@focalview.co.uk
When you have composed and entered your writing, check that you have added your email address so that we can tell you when the works are ready and then click Send.

Please note that your email address will be kept private and used only by us to contact you. We would like to invite you to join Focal View and enter our competitions and show your photography to our members around the world and we would like to pass your email on to SIAB who may contact very infrequently about the work they do but we would like your permission so if you would like the occasional email from us then please say so in the box provided.

There is no limit to your entries. All we ask is that your writing is original to you. We cannot print lyrics and quotes from other works for copyright reasons.

We also have a collection of poems you can buy for £6.00. Sales of the book go to the SIAB Foundation

You can discover the work SIAB do by looking at their website:

Seeing the World in Small Pieces

Reading some of the magazines, I came across a brilliant idea to take another look at the coast - or anywhere else really but it was the coast in the example. We are tempted to put on a wide angle lens and try to capture as much of the scene as we can when there is much to discover in tiny detail and close focus. Macro lenses are expensive but the lens rings are not so why not get a set and look for the tiny worlds in the landscape too. Send in your images for a free portfolio to show friends and family or to wow them at the camera club!
Here is a link to the rings as a start. Click on the image below.

Winter Fog
We had freezing fog over the countryside so I put my Phantom drone up to look at the edge as the fog flowed down from the hills. Here is a zoomable panorama. It uses 'Silverlight' which is an extension included or easily obtainable for most browsers

Focal View Free International Competition and Creative Season scene

Creative Season Card
We have decided to hold the competition change over Christmas and judge in January now. We have had a lot of images sent in with a winter theme and so we are also holding a Creative Season competition with the winner having their image on this year's Focal Christmas Card. They will also have a free portfolio and can now include short video as well.
Please send in your images as soon as possible because we have the card template all ready to send out.
We have called this a Season scene because many entries come in from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa so although we expect some snow, it is not a requirement. The images do need to have been taken in December though.
Many thanks and good luck.
Here is a small sample of entries so far:
